QUICK FACTS Natural Stone Care: Do not to use any abrasive items or cleaning products on the stone this will cause scratches. Natural Stone Cleaning: Use a mild, low in suds, non abrasive cleansing solution. Perhaps using a mild dish soap. (NOT dishwasher machine detergent). In some cases a "Stone Cleaner" may be required to remove build up of soaps, oils, dirt, minor stains, etc.
Marble, Travertine and Limestone should be resealed every 5 years or so to ensure longer resistance to stains. Alkaline, acids and salts are the biggest threats to your stone. Abrasives, oily and greasy products are just as harmful. Conditioners are available in preserving stone by keeping it from becoming brittle or drying out.
Procedure for care of Granite: Damp wipe, then polish dry with a clean soft cloth to remove any spots. Stains or heavily soiled areas can be cleaned using a mild detergent solution (see above) and rinse thoroughly with clean water, then polish dry with a clean soft cloth to remove any spots.
